Nearly one and a quarter million people live in the metro area of Oklahoma City, making it the largest metro area in Oklahoma. Located within the city are the University of Oklahoma’s Medical School, and the Oklahoma University Medical Center. The University Medical Center is the largest teaching hospital in the area, providing services to the population, and learning opportunities to students. This includes plastic and cosmetic surgeries.
Though it has held a small residency in the Department of Surgery, the plastic surgery program requires that all applicants to its program are already board certified for surgery. Over 450 of the physician’s group located in Oklahoma City are plastic surgeons that have services available through the Oklahoma University Hospital and different medical clinics. Several of the surgeons specialize in different things, such as face lifts, rhinoplasty, liposuction, breast augmentation, tummy tucks, botox, and much more.
If a teaching hospital is not something that you prefer to partake in, there are also several private practices and outpatient surgical centers for cosmetic surgery. At these types of clinics, you will find a more relaxed and personable atmosphere in contrast to the hospital. These plastic surgeons do their surgeries in their own offices, and have licensed anesthesiologists if they are called for in the type of surgery being performed.
